Quantifiable Specific Objectives
X-Change aims to provide a breakthrough in the current practices of flexibility calculation and change management of manufacturing systems that are triggered by different change drivers and restricted by multiple disciplines and have an impact from day to day work up to the whole lifecycle. Emerging and novel manufacturing concepts will be validated within the project by companies of various traditional industrial sectors, thus identifying best practices in different industrial sectors.
X-Change comprises solutions, which support the handling of manufacturing system adaptation and solutions, which increase the adaptability of manufacturing systems, and lead to more cost-effective, high quality, faulttolerant, ecofriendly, energy-saving, and safe manufacturing.
Higher flexibility and efficient lifecycle change management tools lead to manufacturing systems and networks, which can fulfil more requirements or can be adapted to new circumstances more efficiently. The successful development and deployment of the X-Change lifecycle platform tend to meet the following quantified specific objectives:
- Reduction of the time from occurrence of a change necessity to fulfilment of the requirements by 20-30% through higher flexibility of manufacturing systems and tool-supported management of changes.
- Reduction of the adaptation cost by 25-35%.
- Reduction of the number of inquiries, which have to be refused because they cannot be fulfilled during adaptation phases by 10-20%.
- Reduction of the opportunity cost by 10-20%.
- Reduction of the investments for extra tools and machines can by 5-10% due to the higher flexibility of manufacturing systems that reduces the necessity for extra tools and machines.
- Increase of the number of re-used production equipment by 20-30% through advanced lifecycle management and technology reallocation.
